Work
I currently work for Women's Shelter of South Texas as a Community Educator. This includes creating training workshops, presentations and seminars for the 12-county Coastal Bend Region of Texas.
Women's Shelter of South Texas was the 3rd battered women's shelter to be founded in Texas, and has been in operation since 1978. My recent work with Women's Shelter of South Texas has incorporated my experience as an instructional designer and public speaker to deliver technology-infused presentations on bullying, teen dating violence, the dangers of sexting, as well as implement Moodle as an e-Learning component to new employee and volunteer orientation. Next steps with Moodle will include continuing education for staff with reporting features that are compliant with guidelines for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.
I recently graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with a Masters of Science in Educational Technology, completing a 2-year program in just 18 months. During that time, I enjoyed creating a project-based learning activity that utilized the Jigsaw II method the most.
In my spare time, I enjoy time with my family and working on writing and speaking projects that are outside of my work with Women's Shelter of South Texas.
Family
My family and I moved to Olivia's (my wife) home town of Corpus Christi after serving a tour in the U.S. Army. If there is one thing we enjoy more than anything else, it is spending time together as a family whether it is going to a water park, having a game night, or just watching television. I am blessed to have a family that stays connected in this way.
My wife (Olivia) and I met in while we were both serving in the United States Army in Dexheim, Germany. Olivia is truly the Proverbs 31 Woman in our family. My son, Jacob, is in many ways my "Mini Me" but it has been great to see him explore his own interests as he goes through middle school. My daughter, Emma, is our little princess who enjoys ballet and crafting projects she learns about from YouTube. In fact, it is Emma who taught me there is an educational value to YouTube tutorials.
