WORKSHOPS/PRESENTATIONS/COURSES DEVELOPED
  • 2012 - "ASSURE Great Presentations", Annual Conference for Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, Austin, Texas. This 3-hour workshop guided participants through the use of multimedia instructional design model of A.S.S.U.R.E. to create consistent, high-quality presentations, courses, and workshops.
  • 2014 - "Using the Basics of Learning Theory to Break the Box of Rape Culture", Annual Conference for Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, Irving, Texas. This 1.5-hour workshop covered basic learning theory and pedagogy and its potential application to create norms change through rape prevention education.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Community Educator

January 2011-Present, Women’s Shelter of South Texas, Corpus Christi, TX.

Utilized instructional design principles such as ADDIE model to develop and facilitate community awareness workshops tailored to audience needs and prior knowledge levels. 
  • Implemented Moodle Learning Management System for staff orientation and professional development
  • Converted inconsistent face-to-face training into consistent e-Learning platform
  • Led project team for creation of a fatality review team
  • Led community coalition against domestic and sexual violence

LifeGroups Curriculum Developer

Real Estate Sales Agent

Facilitated new employee orientation in compliance with Joint Commission standards. Made updates to orientation program to maintain compliance. 
  • Redesigned orientation program using best practices from Magnet-status hospitals and “Best Places to Work”
  • Improved orientation process: one consistent location, manager-employee luncheon, follow up
  • Sought reduction of 90-day turnover rate of new employees through a “connected orientation experience”
  • Instrumental in the implementation of Healthstream LMS, converting training into CBTs

Medical Sergeant

June 1998-November 2011, United States Army, Fort Benning, GA.

Supervised five employees, evaluated staff training needs for mission readiness and provided training as needed.
  • Redesigned, planned, coordinated, and delivered “Combat Lifesaver” trauma first aid course to over 700 soldiers in preparation for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Normal class size was 20 at one time.
